Entry Level Positions

When it comes to checking out the job listing in local areas or a list of jobs hiring, it can be confusing as to what to look for. Entry level jobs are the realistic target you need to set when you start out on your working career. Unless you have previous experience, you will find it virtually impossible to get straight into one of the jobs you would ideally want. You need to put in your time and work your way up. Even though you may have spent years studying at a college, employers who are paying out big money need to be sure that they are getting someone who is going to deliver. There is nothing wrong with entry level jobs. Use them to get your food in the door and show the employer what it is you can offer their company. How can you be an asset to them?

Entry Level Jobs you may be looking at:

Accounting

You can find resources online if you are just graduating from college and want to find an entry level job.  A number of sites are dedicated strictly to this purpose and match prospective employees with potential employers.  A thorough search into these sites might prove very helpful in your search.

Banking Jobs

Starting as a bank teller and helping customers resolve problems and make transactions in their bank accounts is a good way to start your career in banking. Entry level bank jobs should not be too difficult to find.  If you have the right education, you will find opportunities online that you can take advantage of.  If you have just graduated from your program you will find that there are many sites dedicated specifically to helping recent graduates to find entry level position.

Insurance

Entry level insurance jobs may not be highly paid or glamorous, but they can provide the vital stepping stone you need in this lucrative business.  It is not necessary to have any kind of college education to qualify for entry level insurance jobs.

Programming

Most entry level programming jobs require you to have two years of schooling in the subject. While in your program you may have the opportunity to do an internship or another way to gain experience on the job.  This is the best way learn to apply what you are learning in a real life setting.  It is also a great way to make contacts that might come in handy when you have graduated and are looking for an entry level job.

Federal

If you don't want to go to college to study for any degrees, you may be able to get into a Federal Government career. There are always office support roles and administration federal entry level jobs which are open to anyone. If you do manage to get into one of the federal entry level jobs without a college degree, you will almost certainly want to take advantage of the many training opportunities on offer.

Business

It is the the largest and most varied industry in the job market today. Almost all jobs in retail could be considered business entry level jobs. Where can you find business entry level jobs? There are many websites that will give information on companies that hire entry level employees who are not expected to have a lot of experience, but are chosen based on their education and other accomplishments.

Computers

Entry level database jobs can provide a starting point for your career in IT, and give you the route you need into what is still the fastest growing commercial sector.

Sales

Entry level sales jobs can be a springboard to an extremely lucrative and successful career. If you have the right personality, know your product, and work hard, these can be some of the best ground floor jobs available.

Sports Jobs

Just the knowledge you have from your own experience playing sports might be enough to get you a good job in a sporting goods store.  Although this might not be the most prestigious job, you will be working in an environment in which you can use your knowledge and talk about things you love every day.

These are just a few examples in the many areas you can get a job. Exactly what type of job will obviously depend very much on the exact career you have chosen. In some of the high tech careers, where there is a great demand for a high degree of qualification and specialist training, there will not be a great deal of difference between the job you do working as part of a team and the job you will do when you have more responsibility. A lot of the time, low tech low level entry jobs are offered to graduates with the intention of assessing the individual and trying to gauge their suitability for roles higher up in the organization, so make sure you take any job seriously if you want to move up in the company.
